Solar panel cleaning and maintenance for Telangana weather

Fifteen minutes every couple of weeks keeps output close to new for decades.

Short answerRinse panels with plain water and a soft mop every two to three weeks, weekly in dusty summer months, early morning or evening when the glass is cool. Check the inverter app weekly; a sudden drop on a sunny day means it is time to call for service.

Cleaning routine

  1. Clean before 9 am or after 5 pm. Cold water on hot glass can stress it.
  2. Rinse to loosen dust, then wipe with a soft sponge mop.
  3. Do not stand or lean on panels.
  4. Use plain or RO-reject water if your borewell water is very hard, to avoid spots.

Season by season

  • Summer (March–May): highest output but most dust. Clean weekly.
  • Monsoon (June–September): rain does some cleaning. Check earthing, cable glands and that water drains away from the inverter.
  • Winter: clear skies and cooler panels give excellent output. Trim trees that have grown during the rains.

When to call us

  • Inverter shows an error code or is offline
  • Output down more than 20% on a clear day
  • Visible cracks, burn marks or loose cables
  • The structure has started to rust

We service systems installed by us and by others. Book a service visit.

Frequently asked questions

How much output is lost from dusty panels?

Light dust can cut output by 5–8%; thick dust or bird droppings can cause 15–25% loss on affected strings.

Can I use soap?

Use plain water. If needed, a very mild, non-abrasive soap, then rinse well. Never use detergents, scrubbers or pressure washers.
